Verstappen won an exciting battle, Leclerc was second!

The second stop of the Formula 1 season was Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where the race took place at the beginning of the season, unlike last year.

There was a series of dramas before the race started. An electrical problem was discovered in Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz vehicle, raising short-term concerns. However, the team quickly resolved the problem and took the Spanish pilot to the truck.

Yuki Tsunoda, who had a problem with the fuel system on Saturday, had a hard time starting the grid and stopped the car at the request of the team. Because of this, he couldn’t start the race.

Mick Schumacher was also unable to race on Sunday due to an accident on Saturday.

Kevin Magnussen, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Hulkenberg started the race hard and the other names started with medium fabrics.

Red Bull driver Sergio Perez got off to a very good start at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. There he took the first pole position in his career and maintained his position after the start. Charles Leclerc remained in 2nd place and Max Verstappen got off to a good start and moved on to 3rd place.

Therefore, after the first round, the rankings were formed as Perez, Leclerc, Verstappen, Signs. The most important battle in the first round was between Esteban Ocon and Fernando Alonso.

After moving to Russell, Ocon was under pressure from Alonso and the Duo changed places many times. Eventually Alonso took the initiative and the team asked Ocon to maintain his position.

At the front, Verstappen did not allow Perez to catch up while Verstappen maintained his stance with Leclerc.

Ferrari called Leclerc into the pits on lap 16 of the race. However, when Red Bull pitted into Perez, Leclerc remained on the track.

Immediately after Perez’s pit stop, Williams driver Nicholas Latifi lost control of his car in the final corner and crashed into the wall. First came the virtual security tools, then the security tools.

Leclerc, Verstappen and Sainz pitted in and changed tires during this safety car. This means that Perez has been demoted to 3rd place.

The new rankings behind the safety car were Leclerc, Verstappen, Perez, Signs and Russell.

Hamilton started the race from 15th place and started the race with hard tires, so he did not make a pit stop during the safety car period. You are now in 7th place.

After the race resumed, Leclerc continued to maintain his position, while Signs came in third from Perez.

Verstappen tried to push Leclerc, but Ferrari’s driver was able to maintain the lead for more than 1.5 seconds overall. Similarly, Sainz did not allow Perez to approach him.

Problems occurred one after another in the last chapter. First, Fernando Alonso lost power and stayed on the road after the last corner, but Daniel Ricciardo began to have problems after the last corner. Then he stayed on the road before entering the pits.

This meant that the virtual security tool would work.

When the race started again, Verstappen increased his pace and pushed Leclerc. Leclerc tried to straighten the start by initiating DRS activation before the last corner behind Verstappen. This move brought the Monaco driver back to the lead.

However, Verstappen did not give up, and this time using the same tactics as Leclerc, he arrived at the DRS detection spot just behind the Monaco driver and before the last corner. Therefore, he received the DRS on the start straight.

Verstappen closed the gap on the start straight and managed to take the lead before the first corner. Leclerc later pushed Verstappen, but Red Bull’s driver remained ahead.

Leclerc continued to push his opponents in the rest of the race, but Verstappen kept his place and was the first to see the checkered flag and become the winner.

This was Verstappen’s first victory in 2022, which he couldn’t finish in the first race, and his first victory in # 1.

Leclerc was the one who saw the checkered flag in second place. Leclerc, who overtook Perez in the pits to take the lead, was under the pressure of Verstappen after the virtual safety car in the front section and was unable to drive his opponent back despite his successful use of the DRS.

Leclerc finally finished the race in 2nd place. He also made a fastest lap and ended the weekend with 19 points.

Signs was the winner of the 3rd place battle. The Spaniards defeated Perez behind the safety car and then undoubtedly came in third. But his pace wasn’t enough to win. Meanwhile, Ferrari took the podium with two drivers following Bahrain.

Perez was probably the most unlucky name in the race. Immediately after the start, Perez was in a disadvantageous position because the safety car came out immediately after the pit stop and the opponent made a pit stop in a blink of an eye. The Mexican driver suddenly came in 4th place, but he didn’t have a chance to beat Signs and finished in 4th place.

The best remaining was Mercedes driver George Russell. The British driver stayed away from the leader’s pace throughout the race, but he didn’t make any mistakes and did the best he could get on the weekend.

6th place went to Esteban Ocon, who was down at the start of the race but didn’t make a mistake. The French driver was under the pressure of Lando Norris in the last moment and the two crossed the start almost side by side. However, Ocon retained his position and finished in 6th place.

Norris, meanwhile, finished seventh in a tough race, giving McLaren a valuable point. McLaren couldn’t start the season as expected.

Unlucky in the first race with Alpha Tauri, Pierre Guthrie finished in 8th place, Kevin Magnussen in 9th place, and Lewis Hamilton, who was at a disadvantage in the virtual safety car, in 10th place. The British driver started the race with hard tires and was unlucky because the pit lane was closed, although the first section was long.

Hamilton wanted to take advantage of a virtual safety car, so Mercedes called him into the pits. However, Hamilton was near the pit lane when he received the call and he was unable to pit in. That’s why he missed the opportunity. As a result, he finished the race in 10th place.

Guanyu Zhou was suspended many times in 11th place, with Nico Hulkenberg finishing in 12th place and Lance Stroll, who had contact with Alex Albon on the 12th lap and the final lap, in 13th place.

Albon was sent off the race because he collided with his opponent when he tried to pass the stroll in the first corner and the right front suspension broke.

Other names that said goodbye to the race were Valtteri Bottas, who had mechanical problems, and Alonso, Ricardo, and Latifi, who crashed. Also, Kakuda could not start the race.

Following these results, Leclerc became the first in the championship with 45 points, and Signs scored 33 points, Verstappen 25, Russell 22, and Hamilton 16 points. In the Constructors’ Championship, Ferrari 78, Mercedes 38, Red Bull 37, Alpine 16 points.

The next race of the season will take place on April 10th in Melbourne.
